DES MOINES — Today, Washington Republicans filed briefs at the Supreme Court to repeal the Affordable Care Act and end pre-existing condition health protections for more than 130 million Americans, including 1.3 million Iowans. IDP communications director Mandy McClure released the following statement:

“Mariannette Miller-Meeks has been rejected three times by second district voters because she can’t be trusted to protect their health care. Miller-Meeks has repeatedly called for repealing the ACA – ending protections for Iowans with pre-existing conditions, raising the costs of prescription drugs, and throwing Iowans off coverage. Now, Miller-Meeks’ DC backers are actively working to take away Iowans’ health care in the middle of a global pandemic. If Republicans are successful, more than 20 million Americans would lose their health coverage, on top of gutting protections for more than 130 million people with pre-existing conditions. It’s time for Miller-Meeks to be clear about where she stands – with the special interests propping up her campaign, or with the thousands of Iowans facing higher costs or at risk of losing their health care.”
