Statement from IDP Chair Rita Hart on Iowa Republicans’ Bill to Codify Union-Busting
Following today’s outcry from Iowans concerned about Iowa Republicans’ bill to codify union-busting into Iowa law, IDP Chair Rita Hart issued the following statement:
“Iowa’s history with labor is one overflowing with stories to tell. We didn’t get to where we are today regarding labor practices by chance, or via the kindness of corporate elites at the top of the ladder — we got here through decades of advocacy from Iowa labor leaders,” said IDP Chair Rita Hart. “Iowa Democrats are proud to stand with the union leaders who have worked tirelessly to make sure Iowa families have a fair shot at earning a living wage. As for Iowa Republicans, one thing is clear: they’re not a party of the working class.”
