As the state of Iowa settled with former GOP aide Kirsten Anderson for 1.75  million dollars in her sexual harassment suit, it’s clear that Governor Kim Reynolds completely failed Iowa’s state employees and taxpayers.

Since this case first came to light, Reynolds fully supported Senator Bill Dix. Today, Dix tried to brush off the severity of the situation, saying that “this kind of thing happens all the time.” Meanwhile, Reynolds said she has “nothing to add.”

Reynolds failed to stand up for the women of Iowa by coming out strongly against sexual harassment in the workplace. And she has not addressed the fact that alleged wrongdoing in her own party is going to cost Iowa taxpayers $1.75 million dollars in the middle of a budget crisis caused by her own corporate giveaways.

“By allowing Senator Dix to remain a leader in her party and trusting him with her support, she is making clear that she puts her political party ahead of her own employees and all Iowa taxpayers,” said Iowa Democratic Party Spokeswoman Tess Seger. “Governor Reynolds needs to take responsibility, be a leader, and speak out forcefully against sexual harassment.”
