DES MOINES – Asked about Iowa’s position as one of only three states that have failed to fully vaccinate more than five percent of the population, Kim Reynolds yesterday admitted she was unaware of Iowa’s abysmal vaccination progress.
According to Iowa Capital Dispatch, Reynolds told reporters, “I haven’t looked at that … I’m not aware of that.” Data collected by the Centers for Disease Control shows only 4.9 percent of Iowans have received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
“It’s not surprising that Kim Reynolds is completely unaware of Iowa’s abysmal response to this pandemic and the failure to get vaccines in arms efficiently,” said Iowa Democratic Party Chair Rep. Ross Wilburn. “Instead of listening to public health officials, her entire response to this pandemic has been rooted in corrupt deals and willfully ignoring the facts. At a time when Iowans expect and deserve leadership, Kim Reynolds continues to fail them.”
