Ernst’s Approval Rating “Plunges,” “Slips,” “Drops,” “Declines” In Election-Year Fallout With All Voters, Dropping 10 Points to Below 50%

Eight months before the re-election fight of her life, a new Iowa Poll shows that endangered Senator Joni Ernst – the third-most unpopular senator in the country – is rapidly falling out of favor with Iowa voters.

Dragged down by five years of voting against Iowans’ health care and retirement security, Ernst’s approval dropped by double digits in only a year, now below 50% and with the smallest approval/disapproval margin since 2015. More troubling, the poll also shows Independents have opened the door to elect a new senator to Washington – adding on to a Morning Consult poll that showed Ernst underwater with Independents by 11%.
