IDP Announces Two Winners of Marshalltown Regional IDP Awards
The Iowa Democratic Party officially announced the Outstanding Democratic Party Volunteer and the Regional Rising Star Awardees on April 4 at a regional event hosted by the IDP in Marshalltown. Joshua Drewelow of Marshall County was awarded the IDP Rising Star award, and Scott Devries of Jasper County received the Outstanding Democratic Party Volunteer award.
In his nomination, IDP members wrote this of Drewelow: “[Joshua] commandingly took over in his first year as Chair…We thank him [for having taken] on the position, and [his leadership] has shown in that we have more people coming to meetings than we have in the past.” The nominators also noted that Joshua’s leadership has led the Marshall County Democrats into a stronger, more stable organization with membership continuing to steadily increase throughout his time as Chair. “He is good at what he does, and we appreciate him.”
Scott DeVries was nominated and awarded the IDP Outstanding Democratic Volunteer Award for consistently lending his time and expertise to the Iowa Democratic Party, across multiple election cycles, and from the top of the ballot to the bottom.
“It’s a pleasure to be in Marshalltown and speak with a packed room of people at the Iowa Democratic Party’s regional event. It’s clear that there are a lot of folks in central Iowa who are enthusiastic about building a strong Democratic Party, which is what we need as we head into the 2024 elections,” said IDP Chair Rita Hart. “I am so proud of our award recipients, Joshua Drewelow and Scott Devries. These two have proven time and time again that they are passionate and dedicated leaders within their communities.”
