More bad news for Governor Kim Reynolds today as the Des Moines Register released more results from the Iowa Poll which showed that Iowans are deeply dissatisfied with the job she and Iowa Republicans have done handling the top issues in the state.

Key findings include:

  • 64% disapprove of how Governor Reynolds has managed mental health care in the state.
  • 56% disapprove of how she has managed ReynoldsCare, privatized Medicaid.
  • 55% disapprove of the funding cuts she foisted on K-12 schools this year and 54% are concerned with the cuts to funding for higher education.

Where this gets worse for Reynolds is that the substantial majority of respondents said these issues were going to be major considerations at the ballot box in 2018.

It should be noted that this same poll found that only 35% of voters were ready to give Reynolds another term while 49% say that after six months with just Reynolds at the helm they know it’s time for someone else.

“Governor Reynolds and Iowa Republicans consistently put partisan priorities ahead of the people of Iowa, and we’re sick of it,” said Iowa Democratic Party Chair Troy Price. “Iowans are suffering because of their misplaced priorities. It’s time for new leadership that puts progress and people first, and that’s what Democrats are fighting for across the state.”
