Majority of Iowans don’t want Reynolds to run for reelection, Reynolds job performance underwater for the first time

DES MOINES – Following Iowa’s disastrous response to the COVID pandemic and a legislative session defined by Republican attempts to weaken public schools and restrict the rights of Iowans, the latest Iowa Poll shows Kim Reynolds is more vulnerable than ever before.

According to the poll, a majority of Iowans don’t believe Reynolds should run for another term, and for the first time, the Iowa Poll shows more Iowans disapprove of her job performance than those that approve. 47% of Iowans disapprove of Reynolds’ job performance, an increase of 11% since last June.

“The past year has challenged us like no other, but instead of putting partisan difference aside and guiding our state through this crisis, Kim Reynolds has failed to lead,” said Iowa Democratic Party Chair Rep. Ross Wilburn. “From a pandemic response rooted in corrupt deals with her wealthiest donors, to a legislative session where she has prioritized attacking Iowa public schools and weakening our democracy, Iowans have seen enough. Whether she runs for reelection or not, Iowans are going to make sure we return real leadership to the governor’s office in 2022.”
