Kim Reynolds is one of Caucus Night’s biggest losers

The results of the Iowa Republican Caucuses highlight how out-of-touch Governor Kim Reynolds is with Iowans. Reynolds’ favorite candidate,  Ron DeSantis, is fighting for a distant second place.

“I believe he can’t win,” Reynolds said of Donald Trump in a recent interview, “and I believe that Ron can. And that’s a big reason I got behind him.”

Reynolds has been pushing an unpopular agenda since her first day in office, pledging to ban abortions in Iowa and forcing divisive book bans into law.

In her Condition of the State Address last week, Reynolds didn’t bother to mention any plans to solve the biggest economic challenges Iowans are facing such as the lack of access to affordable housing, child care, or safe, quality nursing homes.

“Governor Reynolds is no doubt the biggest loser of the Iowa Caucuses. It’s clear she has completely lost her sway over the Iowa Republican Party and is out of touch with Iowans,” said IDP spokesperson Paige Godden. “While the Iowa GOP descends into civil war over the next few months during their caucus to convention process, Iowa Democrats are focused on  putting people over politics and  working on issues that Iowans care about like safeguarding abortion access, providing more affordable housing and child care and nursing home options, and making sure every Iowan has a chance to succeed.”
