Yesterday, it was revealed that Governor Reynolds’ took money from an Medicaid MCO before rewarding them with a 7.5% raise.  But for the the “ethically challenged” career politician, this isn’t the first pay-to-play scandal for Governor Reynolds. She has a long history doling out handouts to the special interests that line her pockets. Just take a look at her disturbing dealings with ABC Virtual.
Kim Reynolds and ABC Virtual
  • In 2007, then Clarke County treasurer Kim Reynolds led search efforts and helped secure a government contract for ABC Virtual with her treasurers’ group. [Des Moines Register, 2014]
  • Soon thereafter in July 2007, Iowa Interactive, a Des Moines firm that previously had the contract that Reynolds advocated be switched to ABC Virtual, complained that someone from the Senior Policy group, of which Kim Reynolds sat on as one of only three members, “actively sought to circumvent intellectual property rights of Iowa Interactive” by allowing ABC Virtual to access the members-only portion of the Iowa Interactive website.   • In November 2008, the CEO of ABC Virtual, BJ Do, donates $1,000 to the Reynolds for Senate campaign. [Reynolds Contributions Report, 2009]
  • In January 2009, documents reveal that ABC Virtual  had “contacted Kim prior to her [2008 Senate] campaign,” and prior to her tenure ending as a state treasurer on January 2, 2009.
    • According to documents, Reynolds entered talks with with BJ Do, the ABC Virtual CEO and Reynolds campaign contributor, in December 2008.
  • Mid-January, Reynolds begins work for ABC Virtual as a “technology business consultant,”  doubling her incomebut fails to report it on her personal financial disclosures.  Des Moines Register, 2018]
  • In 2010, a year after hiring Reynolds, the ABC Virtual’s  government contract nearly doubles to a roughly $500,000 annual government contract. [Des Moines Register, 2018]
