After raking in $1.9 million in contributions from corporate PACs, Senator Joni Ernst is now working to divert oversight away from PPP loans going to Wall Street and Fortune 500 companies, rather than Iowa small businesses as intended.

Independent watchdogs have sounded “an oversight alarm” on the GOP’s refusal to disclose the names of businesses receiving PPP loans. But rather than pushing for transparency, Senator Ernst is touting a hollow bill that fails to hold her corporate donors accountable. 

Senator Ernst’s latest cover-up of a corporate bailout comes after she ignored “alarm over the transparency provisions” and voted twice to ram through a $500 billion corporate slush fund. The measure would have allowed corporations to lay off workers while buying back stocks and padding CEO bonuses – yet another blow to Iowa workers struggling to make ends meet during an unprecedented pandemic.
