After her last campaign, the Federal Election Commission found that Joni Ernst’s campaign had knowingly and illegally accepted $132,000 in prohibited and excessive campaign contributions, including illegal contributions from corporations, and was forced to pay the largest penalty ever for an Iowa politician. Now the Associated Press has reported that Ernst broke anti-corruption laws by illegally coordinating with a dark money group created by her top political aides to boost her re-election.
