Des Moines – At their fourth quarterly meeting on December 17, 2016, the Iowa Democratic Party passed the following resolution:
“As Democrats we support the Water Protectors at Standing Rock and the veterans who stand in solidarity with them. We encourage all Democrats to contact their representatives and ask the to publicly take a stand against abusive corporate practices and demand that standing treaties with Indigenous Nations be respected. We also encourage all Democrats to demand that their representatives condemn the dangerous actions by police against Indigenous people and their allies.”
