Regional Organizing Director

The Iowa Democratic Party is hiring Regional Organizing Directors for our 2026 coordinated campaign. The Regional Organizing Director will be responsible for coaching and managing a team of Organizers. They will be accountable for all quantitative and qualitative metrics in their assigned region as well as implementing and building on statewide culture. Regional Organizing Directors will work with their Deputy Organizing Director in executing a statewide persuasion and mobilization program in the region to elect Iowa Democrats up and down the ballot.

Iowa is a key state to Democrats taking back power both in state and at the federal level with highly competitive elections at all levels. Regional Organizing Directors will report to a Deputy Organizing Director. 

This position is a full-time, election cycle position through November 15th 2026 and is unionized through Teamsters Local 238. Salary is $5,500 monthly. The position is based in Iowa, and requires regular travel. Remote work options will not be available for this position.

Position Responsibilities include: 

  • Hire, train, and manage organizers across assigned region to reach weekly voter contact and volunteer recruitment goals, with a focus on in-person volunteer engagement
  • Develop a regional field plan with strategies and systems that lead your Organizers to successfully meet short-term and long-term organizing metrics, adhere to established data standards, and ensure data integrity
  • Monitor performance metrics, assess progress, and adjust tactics to drive results
  • Take initiative to build trust with and establish regular coordination with key Democratic stakeholders, candidates, County Parties, and other relevant organizations in the region
  • Consistently meet deadlines, communicate programmatic updates and priorities to Organizers, and share salient feedback and recommendations with state leadership
  • Motivate staff through a motivating and inclusive culture in a fast-paced campaign environment by facilitating daily check-in/out calls, regular 1:1 and team meetings
  • Other duties as assigned by the Organizing Director 


Qualifications: 

  • At least 1-2 cycles of organizing experience, with a strong preference for at least 1 cycle leading a team of staff, interns, leaders, and/or volunteers. 
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively 1:1 and in a group setting
  • Proven fluency with VAN, Mobilize, and other organizing tools
  • Attention to detail, highly-developed organizational skills, and the ability to communicate with stakeholders across all levels of our organization, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to build a strong, inclusive management culture that is solutions-oriented and positive for all staff members
  • Ability to thrive in fast pace environment, work long hours including weekends, and manage high pressure situations 
  • Willingness to travel as needed; access to a reliable vehicle and cell phone required
