State Central Committee
Description
The State Central Committee (SCC) of the Iowa Democratic Party is the governing body when the State Convention is in adjournment. The committee is comprised of: the Iowa representatives to the Democratic National Committee (DNC), 8 members elected from each of the 4 congressional districts, the President of the College and Young Democrats of Iowa, the Chair of the State Diversity Equity and Inclusion Committee, the Chair of the State Platform Committee, the Chair of the State Rules Committee, and the Chairs of the Constituency Caucuses.
Responsibilities
The State Central Committee (SCC) meets at least 1 time in each quarter of the calendar. The duties of the SCC include providing the leadership and framework to elect Democrats to all levels of government, review and approve an annual budget, develop, review and approve a Strategic Plan to meet the organizational goals, attend meetings of the committee and assigned subcommittees, and assist with the successful completion of fundraising projects. The SCC will also work to develop, implement, and assist with training, including but not limited to: staff, district and county central committee members, caucus trainings, Absentee Ballot training, GOTV and other appropriate training, and work to develop and implement programs to build the party.
