Since the start of the war in Iran, Hinson has now raked in $62,000 from the Big Oil companies that are recording their “highest level [of profits] in years.”

Meanwhile, Iowans are left paying record–high prices for gas and diesel, which are more than $4/gallon and $6/gallon.

MeidasTouch News: Big Oil rewarded Ashley Hinson’s 7th consecutive vote for the Iran war with big donation

  • The oil and gas industry rewarded Iowa Republican U.S. Senate Candidate Ashley Hinson with corporate PAC donations totaling $20,000 for her seventh vote to prolong the Iran war, despite her constituents suffering under skyrocketing gas prices as a result.
  • On September 15th, Hinson voted against an Iran war powers resolution in the House for the seventh time since the war began in February. The multiple bipartisan war powers resolutions Hinson voted against were meant to uphold the Constitutional duty of Congress to exert authority over foreign wars after any conflict begun by the President exceeds 90 days, a milestone which was passed in May, and force the war begun by Donald Trump in Iran to come to a close.
  • Since that seventh vote to continue the war in Iran while Americans reel with the rising price of gas as a result, Hinson received $20,000 from the oil and gas industry, bringing her total big oil contributions to $62,000 since the war began in February.
  • MeidasTouch previously reported that Hinson has accepted over $217,000 in donations from oil and gas companies since the beginning of her time in Congress. Companies like Chevron and ExxonMobile have seen record profits since the start of the war, while the price of gas in Iowa has risen $1.55, or 60%.
  • What wasn’t reported, because we couldn’t have known at the time of publishing, was that in that same two-week period Hinson was busy raking in an additional $20,000 from big oil companies.
  • Those donations included corporate PAC donations from Chevron, Exxon Mobile, Continental Resources, and Devon Energy between September 15th and September 30th. Hinson cast her seventh vote to prolong the Iran war on the 15th, the same day as the Continental and Devon Energy donations to campaign.
  • Chevron and ExxonMobil have reported earning billions more over the previous quarter of 2026 —their “highest level [of profits] in years” — driven by the war in Iran. ExxonMobil reported earning almost $15 billion last quarter, doubling their earnings from the same quarter last year. Chevron reported earning $12 billion last quarter, $10 billion more than the same quarter last year, as the war in Iran caused gas prices to skyrocket globally.
