Zach Lahn Supports Kim Reynolds’ Billion Dollar Budget Deficit
DAVENPORT – Kansas carpetbagger and career political operative Zach Lahn has “cast himself as the heir to” Kim Reynolds’ failed record, including her nearly $1.4 billion budget deficit that threatens funding for schools, health care, and law enforcement.
Lahn said he believes Reynolds “did the right thing” by landing Iowa with two back-to-back budget deficits to fund tax breaks for powerful insiders and special interests, and dismissed concerns about economic mismanagement by claiming the economy “will rebound.”
Here’s what you need to know about the economic mismanagement Lahn supports:
- Iowa is ranked 49th in the country for personal income growth over the last three years.
- Iowa’s economy is the 39th worst in the country and 45th for economic activity after a decade of one-party rule.
- Iowa has the worst hourly wages in the midwest.
- Iowans have paid an extra $3,700 for gas, groceries, housing, and health care.
- Layoffs in Iowa hit a one-year high this summer, and over 12,700 Iowans have been laid off in the past year.
- Inflation is up in the Midwest at 3.6% in August.
- Iowa farmers are struggling under the weight of a four-year downturn and filing for bankruptcy at the highest rate in the nation.
