WATCH: Kansas Governor Laura Kelly to Her Constituent Zach Lahn: “Time to Come Back to Kansas”
DES MOINES – Today, ahead of the first gubernatorial debate, Kansas Governor Laura Kelly released a new video telling her constituent Zach Lahn it’s time to come back home to Kansas.
Lahn is a career political operative who spends more time in Kansas than Iowa, still holds a job in Kansas as president of a failing private school, and said he would try to “be in Iowa as much as humanly possible” if elected. Lahn voted in Kansas in 2018, 2020, and 2022, and “regularly flies in and out of Wichita to attend” campaign events in Iowa, so Governor Kelly wanted to give him a pep talk before he takes the debate stage.

Kansas Governor Laura Kelly here.
It is my great honor to be the governor of the greatest state in the country.
So imagine my surprise when I learned that one of my constituents is running for governor. Not here in his home state of Kansas, but two states over in Iowa.
Now, generally, I support Kansans.
I was even proud to see Zach Lahn voted here in ‘18, ‘20, and ‘22. I hope he voted for me in the Kansas governor’s race.
But in the Iowa governor’s race, I’m supporting the Iowan.
Zach, there are no hard feelings, but it is time to come back to Kansas.
As they say, there’s no place like home.
