DES MOINES – The same day a report from Politico finds the top GOP Senate super PAC is “sounding the alarm in Iowa” that Ashley Hinson is losing this election because she’s raising prices from her unbreaking support for the costly Iran War, she tries to trick Iowans into thinking she wants to end the war.
The Truth:
- Last week, Hinson cast her seventh vote to continue the war in Iran as it devastates Iowa with “record diesel prices,” “surg[ing]” gas costs, fertilizer prices “near peak levels,” and inflation higher than the national average.
- She is continuing to publicly defend the war in Iran and downplay the impact on Iowans, despite admitting in private that it’s becoming a “political liability.”
- She has raked in tens of thousands of dollars from Big Oil companies seeing record profits up to $14 billion from the Iran war.
“Nothing Ashley Hinson says now can hide the fact that she’s voted seven times to continue the war in Iran, while trying to downplay its costly impact on Iowans,” said Iowa Democratic Party spokesperson Drew Myers. “No Iowan is going to be fooled by empty statements come November.”

- Hinson, who opposed war powers resolution on Iran last week, says: “The war needs to be brought to a successful and immediate end.”
- A notably more urgent tone than most Senate GOP candidates —> “These actions to lower costs are needed ASAP, and the war needs to be brought to a successful and immediate end.”
- Hinson voted against the latest Iran war powers resolution last week […]

- Rep. Ashley Hinson, R-Iowa, who’s running for Senate, says the Iran war “needs to be brought to a successful and immediate end.” A messaging pivot: Hinson voted NO six times on House resolutions directing Trump to end the Iran war — including as recently as last week.
Shane Goldmacher, New York Times:
- The price of diesel is at an all-time high.
