IDP Statement on JD Vance’s Desperate Attempt to Bail Out Zach Lahn
DES MOINES – IDP Chair Rita Hart released the following statement in response to JD Vance’s desperate attempt to bail out Kansas carpetbagger and career political operative Zach Lahn:
“Another insider D.C. politician is rushing in to prop up Zach Lahn because he has no answer for how he can be a full-time governor when he lives in Kansas. The truth is Lahn is a career political operative who wants to continue the worst of Kim Reynolds’ failed agenda for another four years, and his party bosses know he would be a reliable rubber stamp for the reckless tariffs and ongoing war in Iran that have sent the price of gas, utilities, and groceries skyrocketing. After years of underfunded public schools, farm bankruptcies, and record cancer growth rates, Iowans are ready for change, but Lahn is only offering more of the same.”
Lahn fully supports his D.C. party bosses’ cost-raising agenda:
- When asked to condemn the war in Iran that’s caused diesel prices to skyrocket to a record high and jacked up gas prices, Lahn has refused to speak out.
- Lahn has backed tariffs that are making life unaffordable for working families, saying that “the idea that every tariff is a bad tariff is not true” and claiming that tariffs are “positive.”
- In addition to pledging to continue Reynolds’ disastrous Medicaid privatization scheme, Lahn supports federal cuts to Medicaid that rip health care away from 110,000 Iowans and hike premiums for 117,890 Iowans, dismissing health care cuts and clinic closures as “partisan talking points.”
