REMINDER: Zach Lahn Has “Cast Himself as the Heir” to Kim Reynolds, Wants to Continue the Failed Status Quo

DES MOINES – Ahead of the final Kim Reynolds legacy tour stop in Sioux Center, a reminder that Kansas carpetbagger and career political operative Zach Lahn is running to continue Reynolds’ failed status quo.

Lahn, who has “cast himself as the heir” to the most unpopular governor in the country, has said he’s “grateful” for everything Reynolds has done. He’s “doubled down on his support for Reynolds’” failed legacy of high cancer rates, farm bankruptcies, and underfunded public schools.

Lahn is running to continue Kim Reynolds’ failed legacy:

  • Lahn has attacked public schools, supports Kim Reynolds’ unaccountable private school voucher scheme, and wants to expand the school voucher program to include homeschooling — leaving the door open to even more public school funding cuts.

  • Lahn has completely dismissed the cost of living crisis and defended tariffs that are hiking costs on Iowa families and farmers. He’s running to continue Reynolds’ economic failures, like making Iowa the state with the second highest number of farm bankruptcies and landing Iowa with a nearly $1.4 billion budget deficit to fund tax breaks for powerful insiders and special interests.

From Iowa Democratic Party spokesperson Terra Hernandez:

“Kansas carpetbagger and career political operative Zach Lahn has made it clear he wants to continue Kim Reynolds’ failed legacy of sky-high cancer rates, record farm bankruptcies, and underfunded public schools. Iowans are ready to move on from the most unpopular governor in the country, but Lahn is promising more of the same failed status quo that’s left working families behind. That’s why Iowans will reject him this November.”
