DES MOINES – Ashley Hinson was called out by Iowa parents over the weekend near her 6th Annual BBQ Bash for blocking the release of the Epstein Files. Ever since, Iowans have been hearing all about how they called Hinson’s decision to protect Jeffrey Epstein and his co-conspirators from justice and accountability “unsettling,” “disgusting,” and “disqualifying.”
Key context: Ashley Hinson is facing increasingly more questions from Iowans on her decision to block the release of the Epstein Files. Earlier this month, three Iowans called into her telephone town hall demanding to know why she fought against releasing the Epstein Files.
At the state fair, an Iowa digital creator called out Hinson for blocking the release of the files in a now-viral video right after a video circulated online of Hinson ignoring repeated questions about why she worked for months to oppose the release of the files.

- Earlier in August, the Gazette reported Hinson was asked by three callers during a telephone town hall about not supporting the 2025 effort to force a House floor vote on the issue through a discharge petition. In the town hall, Hinson called the effort “a Democrat floor procedure” while saying she supported releasing the documents.
- Democrats blasted Hinson at a news conference ahead of her fundraiser for missing votes in Congress related to the release of documents associated with deceased sex offender and financier Jeffrey Epstein.
- But Hinson did not sign an earlier discharge petition which would have forced a vote on legislation to release the documents, circumventing Republican congressional leadership to do so.
