Brenna Bird Goes Hollywood, Suing To Save GOP-Megadonor’s Studio Deal, While Ignoring Corporate Polluters In Iowa

As Brenna Bird takes heat for letting corporate polluters off, and shrugs off Iowa’s cancer crisis, she’s busy fighting a Hollywood studio deal instead

DES MOINES – Don’t expect Brenna Bird to take on greedy corporations when they steal from Iowans or dump cancer-causing toxins into our air, she’s too busy using her position to weigh in on Hollywood studio drama instead.

This week Bird wrote an op-ed announcing she will sue to help push through a $110 billion studio merger in Hollywood. The deal is being financed by GOP megadonor Larry Ellison, who stands to benefit from the merger that will create the largest studio in Hollywood.

Bird’s newfound interest in helping a Hollywood billionaire close a business deal in California comes after she has been exposed for letting a corporate polluter off the hook for releasing cancer-causing toxins into the air for three years, then raking in $100,000 in campaign contributions from them.

She also made her priorities clear speaking to reporters last week at the Iowa State Fair. Asked what the attorney general could do to address rising cancer rates, Bird shrugged and refused to offer any ideas, even though Iowa law says the attorney general is the only one who can go after greedy polluters and seek real penalties to stop them.

“Brenna Bird follows the money when deciding what cases to take on. If you’re a powerful GOP megadonor with a business deal on the line, she’ll step in to help you out. And if you’re able to pour cash into her campaign, she’ll ignore it when your corporation releases cancer-causing toxins into the air,” said IDP Spokesperson Paige Godden. “Iowa needs an attorney general who believes the job is to fight for  them, not political insiders and greedy corporations. Brenna Bird has failed to do the job and Iowans are ready to fire her in November.”
