DES MOINES – This evening, dozens of Iowans came together outside the Linn County Lincoln Dinner to call out Ashley Hinson’s corruption and self-dealing at the expense of Iowans. Since Hinson has been in Congress, she has used her public office to enrich herself and her wealthy donors, while voting to rip away healthcare and jack up prices.
Ashley Hinson’s Corrupt, Self-Dealing Record:
- Hinson’s net worth increased by up to ten times to as much as $8 million thanks to quietly holding up to $5 million in a private insurance stock.
- Despite being a multi-millionaire, she has spent more than $50,000 in taxpayer money to live in a “luxury” DC apartment, which includes amenities such as a “large sports court, a game room, and a luxury pool that comes with an outdoor dining area.”
- She has “championed” a tax loophole to help wealthy families like hers, so they could “shield” much of their “multimillion-dollar private business holdings” from taxes.
- Hinson has been “lying” about owning stock while refusing to join a bipartisan congressional effort that would have forced her to divest from her stock holdings.
- She has jetted off on fancy international trips worth more than $110,000, paid for by special interest groups.
- Hinson has raked in thousands of dollars from Bayer, the maker of Roundup, which scientific studies have linked to an “increased risk of non-Hodgkin lymphoma.”
- Hinson attended a campaign fundraiser hosted by “GOP megadonor”and “kingmaker” Bruce Rastetter, the founder of Summit Agricultural Group, which has “spent years fighting” to rip away land from Iowans to build their pipeline.
