Iowa Voter Puts Zach Lahn on Blast for Attacking Access to Health Care

DES MOINES – In a new letter to the editor in The Gazette, a concerned Iowa voter put career political operative and Kansas carpetbagger Zach Lahn on blast for spending his career trying to keep people from getting health insurance and spearheading a campaign to block Medicaid expansion in Montana.

Lahn recently went on Iowa Press to praise his party bosses for making the largest cuts to Medicaid in history, which threatens health care for 110,000 Iowans.

  • One of my family members needs full-time care for a rare brain disease, and Medicaid has been a lifeline for my family when we had no alternative. This experience is why I can’t stay silent about Zach Lahn.

  • Reporting has uncovered that before running for office, Lahn spent his career working in politics. What many Iowans don’t know is Lahn also spearheaded a campaign to block Medicaid expansion in Montana, which would’ve ripped healthcare away from 45,000 people.

  • Medicaid expansion was a game changer for so many families across Iowa. It gave tens of thousands of Iowans access to care, but Lahn called this crucial lifeline “bad policy.”

  • Now, under Iowa’s privatized Medicaid system and federal cuts to Medicaid, Iowans are losing access to care and seeing their premiums go up. These cuts will affect care centers, as well as access to home care and dental care. Lahn has not spoken out against these cuts or given Iowans any indication that he will end privatized Medicaid.

  • … Spending your career trying to rip healthcare away from tens of thousands of people is disqualifying for anyone trying to run for governor.
