Zach Lahn Refuses to Take Questions at First Public Campaign Event Over a Month After the Primary

DES MOINES – After spending the first month of the general election in hiding, Kansas carpetbagger and career political operative Zach Lahn finally held his first campaign event. However, Lahn “did not take questions from reporters after the event or from attendees during the town hall,” continuing to avoid answering basic questions about where he lives and how much time he spends in Iowa

Since the primary, Lahn has skipped candidate forums, fought with Iowans on Twitter, and praised Kim Reynolds’ failed legacy — but has not told Iowans how he plans to adjust his current living situation if he’s elected in November. Lahn even told Iowans that it’s none of their business and that the eventual arrangement will be between him and his wife.

Iowans still deserve answers from Lahn on the following questions:

  1. How many days of your term do you plan to spend in Kansas while collecting a taxpayer-funded salary as governor of Iowa?

Lahn has said would “be in Iowa as much as humanly possible” if elected. Iowans deserve a full-time governor, and the least Lahn can do is disclose how many days he will live in Kansas while collecting an Iowa taxpayer-funded salary.

  1. How much would your travels back and forth from Kansas cost Iowa taxpayers — including the pilot, state plane, gas, and state trooper security — since you could not use your private plane for those trips as governor?

Lahn has said he’s “grateful” for everything Reynolds has done. Would he continue her shady practice of using a $4.7 million secret state-owned plane for personal travel on the taxpayers’ dime?

  1. When will you make your “arrangement” outlining how often you expect to travel to Kansas available to the public?

After saying he would only “move to and live in Iowa full time” if elected governor, Lahn refused to say how often he would need to travel back to Kansas and told KCCI “that’s something between my wife and I to figure out.”

  1. How do you plan to respond as governor if Iowa faces a security or public safety emergency while you are in Kansas?

Lahn’s responsibilities won’t end where the state lines do. Will he be a part-time governor and leave Big Pesticide shill Derek Wulf to make key decisions in his place?

  1. Why did you choose to run for governor in Iowa and not Kansas?

Kansas also has an open governor’s race this year. Why did Lahn leave the state where he has lived and voted since 2018, where he started his business, and where his family continues to live, to run for governor of Iowa instead?

From Iowa Democratic Party spokesperson Terra Hernandez:

“After spending a month in hiding, Kansas carpetbagger Zach Lahn still refuses to answer basic questions about where he lives and how much time he would spend in Kansas while collecting a taxpayer-funded salary. Iowans deserve a full-time governor who will show up and answer their questions — not run from them.”
