IDP Chair Rita Hart Statement on Zach Lahn’s Running Mate
DES MOINES – IDP Chair Rita Hart released the following statement on career political operative and Kansas carpetbagger Zach Lahn choosing State Rep. Derek Wulf as his running mate:
“Zach Lahn couldn’t have picked a more fitting running mate to continue Kim Reynolds’ failed status quo. Derek Wulf voted for the worst of Reynolds’ disastrous agenda: he gutted the State Auditor’s ability to find misspent tax money, passed an unaccountable private school voucher program that rips taxpayer dollars away from public schools, and led the charge to let polluters off the hook for contaminating Iowa’s waterways — all while pocketing thousands of dollars from a Chinese state-owned company buying up Iowa farmland. Iowans are ready for change, but a Lahn-Wulf administration only pledges to continue a decade of one-party rule that’s left working families behind.”

- Derek Wulf was chair of the House Agriculture Committee that sponsored a bill making it harder for the Department of Natural Resources to put bodies of water on the impaired list.
- Derek Wulf voted to pass SF478, which blocked the state auditor from seeing how public funds are being spent and made it harder to hold the Reynolds administration and government insiders accountable.
- Derek Wulf voted to pass Kim Reynolds’ unaccountable school voucher program that drives up costs and rips funding away from the vast majority of Iowa’s students, teachers, and parents to foot the bill for wealthy families.
- Derek Wulf accepted a $1,000 contribution from Syngenta, a massive agriculture giant owned by the Chinese Communist Party which controls hundreds of acres of Iowa farmland.
