Politico: Trump Asks Congress to Cut One-Fifth of USDA’s Funding

Ashley Hinson Has Been Silent on if She Supports Massive Spending Cuts to Pay for the War in Iran

DES MOINES – The administration has announced a plan to cut one-fifth of USDA’s funding to pay for the war in Iran. Ashley Hinson has completely failed to stand up to this drastic  proposed cut, despite USDA cuts already causing immense harm to Iowa farmers.

“In addition to higher prices at the gas pump and skyrocketing fertilizer costs, Ashley Hinson’s support for the war in Iran is also putting the USDA on the chopping block,” said Iowa Democratic Party spokesperson Drew Myers. “A 20% cut to the USDA will eliminate essential funding and programs that help grow rural economies, keep American farmers competitive, and ensure Iowa farmers can earn a living in the marketplace – not with handouts. Hinson has completely failed to put politics aside and stand up for Iowa farmers, and so in November, voters will have to demand a change.”
