Ashley Hinson’s Failing DC Record is Hurting Iowa Farmers
Hinson is Selling Out Struggling Iowa Farmers in Washington by Continuing to Support Chaotic Trade Policies, Gutting USDA Programs, and Failing to Pass Year-Round E-15
Iowa Recorded the Second-Most Farm Bankruptcies in the Nation During the First Half of 2025, Doubling Last Year’s Total
DES MOINES – On National Ag Day, Iowa farmers are approaching the upcoming season with dread as they prepare for another challenging year because of Ashley Hinson’s failing DC record. Hinson’s votes in Washington are spiking the cost of fertilizer and destroying important trade relationships. She’s also backed killing federal programs farmers rely on and failed to deliver for Iowa cattle ranchers.
“Ashley Hinson is failing to help Iowa farmers who are demanding relief from chaotic trade policies and rising input costs,” said Iowa Democratic Party spokesperson Drew Myers. “In Washington, she voted to keep in place reckless tariffs and supported massive cuts to the USDA that are killing family farms. Come November, Iowans will want a Senator who – unlike Hinson – is willing to put them ahead of politics.”
Ashley Hinson’s Failing DC Record is Putting Politics Ahead of Iowa Farmers:
- Hinson has repeatedly voted against legislation to end chaotic tariffs and continued to defend them despite their devastating effect on Iowa’s farmers.
- Hinson voted to continue the war in Iran that is jacking up the price of fertilizer.
- As a member of the DOGE caucus, Hinson supported their work, which included firing USDA workers and freezing a billion dollars in funding for federal programs that paid farmers.
- Hinson has failed to deliver bipartisan year-round E-15 legislation.
- Hinson has failed to help Iowa cattle ranchers who are being hurt by the U.S.-Argentina trade that could quadruple the amount of Argentine beef into the country.
