NEW: Ashley Hinson says DC Tariffs are “Level[ing] the Playing Field”

Hinson Said Tariffs Are “Level[ing] the Playing Field” Despite the Massive Economic Pain They’re Inflicting on Iowa Families and Farmers

DES MOINES – Ashley Hinson continues to defend the chaotic and harmful tariffs she’s supported in Congress.

In a statement she made after the Supreme Court overturned the president’s tariffs, she falsely said tariffs are “level[ing] the playing field” despite massive evidence that Iowans’ costs have skyrocketed and farmers’ revenue has been slashed.

“A $20 billion dollar bailout to Argentina while Iowa cattle and soybean farmers struggle isn’t leveling the playing field,” said Iowa Democratic spokesperson Drew Myers. “Hinson is trying to rewrite history because Iowans will remember in November that she repeatedly voted to keep in place tariffs that are making their lives more unaffordable.”

Tariffs Are Crushing Iowa’s Economy:

  • Tariffs are making everything more expensive and already cost the average family $1,000 in 2025 alone.
  • Tariffs have pushed Iowa’s agriculture industry to the brink of another farm crisis as farmers are still struggling to make up for the last trade war.
  • Iowa farmers are bracing to lose money for the fourth consecutive year.
  • Randy Feenstra repeatedly voted to rubber stamp the disastrous tariffs that are raising prices on Iowa farmers, cheered on chaotic tariffs, and said “I applaud” Washington’s reckless trade policy.
