FRONT PAGE NEWS: “GOP Grassroots Signal Unease With Feenstra”

DES MOINES – This morning, the front page of The Gazette highlighted how Randy Feenstra is facing major “dissatisfaction” and “opposition” from his own party after finishing a distant third in straw polls at the caucuses, as GOP activists are planning for the “very, very real possibility” of the “unsettled” primary going to a “contested” convention.

As The Gazette reports, “criticism of Feenstra from the party’s conservative base has intensified in recent weeks. A Fox News report detailed a petition circulating among Iowa Republicans urging Trump ahead of his trip last week to Iowa not to endorse Feenstra … Republican operatives and grassroots activists quoted in the Fox News report criticized Feenstra for skipping multiple candidate forums and debates, and questioned whether he could energize the base in a general election.” The petition has garnered over 700 signatures.

Mounting criticism of Feenstra’s “milquetoast” campaign comes as Feenstra admitted he’s failed to secure Donald Trump’s endorsement after he was snubbed by the president in Clive last week. Feenstra told reporters he begged for Trump’s support on Air Force One and “we’re working on that.” That same night, Trump made a wave of key endorsements on Truth Social in the second Congressional district and in other competitive governor’s races in Wisconsin (to one of Feenstra’s fellow House members) and Pennsylvania — while conspicuously refusing to endorse Feenstra.
