Statement: Ashley Hinson’s Failing Record to be on Display in Campaign Stop Today
Under Ashley Hinson’s failed leadership, Iowa is last-in-the-nation in economic growth, 44th in hourly wages
SIOUX CITY – Today, Ashley Hinson will campaign with America’s most unpopular governor, Kim Reynolds, in Sioux City, making it clear to Iowans that she plans to deliver more of the same failing record in the U.S. Senate that is making life more expensive for families in Iowa.
“Iowa ranks last in the nation in economic growth and is stuck in a recession that’s leaving families struggling to keep up with the cost of living,” said Iowa Democratic Party spokesperson Drew Myers. “Ashley Hinson will deliver more of the same failed record in the U.S Senate – one that raises health insurance premiums, cuts food assistance, and keeps in place reckless tariffs hurting farmers.”
Hinson is Making Life More Expensive for Iowans:
- Hinson voted twice for the so-called One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which risked health insurance for 110,000 Iowans and threatened SNAP food assistance for 134,000 Iowa families.
- Hinson voted to give a $121 billion tax handout for the richest 1%.
- Hinson repeatedly voted against legislation to terminate Trump’s tariffs and continued to defend them despite their devastating effect on Iowa’s farmers.
- Hinson endorsed a budget plan that proposed raising the retirement age to 69 and cut benefits by 13% for people who retired in 2033 or later.
