“Drag Him Across the Finish Line”: No Show Randy Feenstra’s GOP Rivals Question His Strength as He Skips ANOTHER Forum
DES MOINES – At Thursday night’s GOP candidate forum in Eldridge, No Show Randy Feenstra’s Republican rivals didn’t hold back about his continued absence from the campaign trail and ability to win in November. Former Reynolds lackey Adam Steen warned that if Feenstra becomes the nominee, Iowa Republicans would have to “drag him across the finish line” in a general election — adding bluntly, “I don’t know if that’s possible.”
This isn’t the first time Feenstra has skipped a forum, or dodged tough questions. To date, Feenstra has skipped candidate forums in Plymouth, Jefferson, Sioux, and Ida counties. After repeatedly refusing to answer radio host Simon Conway about whether he would participate in a primary debate, the question now looms: will Feenstra finally show up for the next GOP debate this Tuesday, hosted by Conway himself? So far, Randy Feenstra has given Iowa voters little reason to believe he’ll show up or that he’s ready to lead as the state’s next governor.
These major doubts aren’t coming just from rivals on the stage. Across the state, Republicans are raising serious doubts about Feenstra’s viability. Conservative columnist Althea Cole recently warned “If Feenstra is our candidate, Iowa Republicans will lose the governorship in 2026,” citing his lackluster performance on the campaign trail and repeated avoidance of appearing alongside his GOP challengers.
From Iowa Democratic Party spokesperson Terra Hernandez:
“Iowa Republicans are sounding the alarm about No Show Randy Feenstra’s ability to win in November. They’re worried, and they should be. Iowans want a governor who shows up, keeps their word, and answers tough questions, not more of the status quo. No Show Randy Feenstra — and the entire slate of GOP candidates — clearly aren’t up for the job.”
