ICYMI: Poll shows Brenna Bird almost as unpopular as Kim Reynolds

Iowa Republicans’ streak of horrendously low polling continues

DES MOINES – A dark money group called The Fund for Economic Independence bought $600,000 worth of ads in a sad attempt to boost Brenna Bird’s poll numbers.

After the ads aired, polls had Bird’s favorable/unfavorable numbers at 25/35, and her vote share was at 41 percent.

As journalist Laura Belin put it: While it’s impossible to confirm whether that commercial measurably helped Bird with swing voters, one thing is clear: more than a year before the 2026 midterm election, the attorney general’s polling numbers were bad enough to inspire a well-funded outside rescue mission.”

“Brenna Bird’s polling numbers are so low that a $600,000 ad buy by a shady dark money group still left her vote share at 41 percent,” said Iowa Democratic Party Chair Rita Hart. “Maybe Brenna should be less worried about rubbing elbows with dark money groups and instead focus on serving the Iowans she’s elected to represent.”
