Iowa’s Republican Representatives Stay Silent as Popularity of Argentina Bailout Plunges

79 percent of Americans disapprove of Trump’s $40 billion bailout of Argentina. Will Iowa’s representatives ever stand up for taxpayers and farmers?

DES MOINES – A new poll from Marquette University shows Trump’s least popular policy is his $40 billion Argentine bailout, which has hurt Iowa’s taxpayers and farmers.

Iowa’s Republican Representatives Randy Feenstra, Ashley Hinson and Zach Nunn have stayed silent on the issue as Trump gives money that could help Iowa’s struggling farmers to his billionaire friends in another country.

Mariannette Miller-Meeks tried to address the Argentine bailout at a recent town hall, where she said “they were not bailed out,” even though this was clearly a bailout

Here’s a list of some of Trump’s least popular policies, according to the poll:

  1. Providing $20b-$40 b to stabilize Argentina’s Economy approve: 21 | disapprove: 79
  2. The shutdown of the federal government approve: 25 | disapprove: 75
  3. Information about Jeffrey Epstein approve: 26 | disapprove: 74
  4. Inflation/cost of living approve: 26 | disapprove: 72

“It has been clear from the first second Trump announced his plan for a multi-billion dollar favor to Argentina that this will be a great deal for Wall Street speculators and Argentine politicians, not for Iowa farmers, taxpayers, nor our economy. This deal hurts Iowa more than any other state and it makes no sense to give Argentina money so that they can sell China soybeans.

Why won’t Iowa’s Republican representatives stand up for Iowans and the 79 percent of Americans who agree this is a terrible deal for our farmers?”
