Iowa House Victory Fund
Job Description: Finance Director
Position Overview
The Iowa House Democrats are hiring a Finance Director to work for our campaign committee, the Iowa House Victory Fund (HVF). The Finance Director will report to the Executive Director and the House Democratic Leader but will work with all members of the Democratic Caucus, Iowa House candidates, and staff. This position will require extensive hours and statewide travel. The salary range for this position is $60k – $72k, with benefits including healthcare (vision and dental), a 401(k) match, paid vacation, and paid sick leave. Additional incentives and benefits may be available.
Qualifications
We seek applicants who are talented, ambitious, and hungry to prove themselves. This position is ideal for previous finance staffers, finance assistants, and call time managers looking to take the next step in their career, and for finance staff looking to expand their fundraising skill set and work with multiple elected officials and candidates rather than an individual campaign. The HVF Finance Director must have at least 2 years of experience in political campaign finance, or one complete cycle of political campaign finance. State legislative fundraising or state legislative caucus finance experience is strongly preferred. Qualified applicants must successfully manage a principal and multiple direct reports, create and execute a finance plan, maintain NGP VAN or a similar donor database, and be familiar with the latest fundraising best practices.
Given that Iowa House Democrats currently have a 33-66 minority, the HVF Finance Director must understand how to strategically grow the finance plan, think creatively, relentlessly drive change, and be willing to try new approaches to succeed.
The Finance Director must possess:
- Strong organizational skills — attention to detail and ability to successfully multitask
- A self-starter mindset; willingness to take initiative and tackle complex challenges head-on without being asked to
