Putting party loyalties over Iowans best interests, Randy Feenstra and Iowa Republicans vote for tariffs (again)

Washington – Despite Senator Chuck Grassley calling it “stupid policy” and months of concerns from Iowans, Randy Feenstra and Iowa Republicans voted to “surrender tariff powers” through at least January. Today’s vote is more of the same poor judgment, as Feenstra and the entire Iowa Republican delegation voted to protect the tariffs twice earlier this year.

The non-partisan Yale budget lab estimates tariffs are currently costing the average Iowa family $2,300 a year.

Randy Feenstra and Iowa Republicans are voting for higher prices on groceries, health care, and school supplies and further damaging our ag economy,” said Iowa Democratic Party Chair Rita Hart. “Iowa is already facing a recessionary economy and Randy is putting party bosses and special interests in Washington, DC ahead of everyday Iowans. We need new leadership and new direction and Randy Feenstra is nothing but a reliable vote for the national Republicans and special interests.”
