Randy Feenstra Continues to Fight Only for Iowa’s Wealthiest

Despite what Randy Feenstra says, the majority of Iowans do not make over $600,000 annually

DES MOINES – Randy Feenstra is lying to Iowans about the Republican budget bill when he says it will save Iowa families $10,000 or more a year.

The only families who save anywhere near the $10,000 Feenstra promises make more than $624,000 a year, according to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office. Middle-income families who make between $86,000 and $107,000 would see savings between $500 and $1,000.

Anyone making $55,000 or less is expected to suffer a net loss from the Republican bill that Feenstra is bragging about. The median household income in Iowa in 2023 was just over $73,000, meaning the majority of Iowans will either save less than $1,000 or lose money if Republicans like Randy Feenstra continue to vote for this bill. To be clear: this bill helps the rich and hurts everyone else.

“Randy Feenstra is so out of touch he must think every Iowa family makes half-a-million bucks and will save big money from the Republican’s big, bad, budget-busting bill,” said Iowa Democratic Party Spokesperson Paige Godden. “The reality is most Iowans stand to lose money from this deal. Less than the top 1 percent of Iowa earners will save the $10,000 or more Randy Feenstra is bragging about. The Republican budget bill will cost Iowans money and add $2.4 trillion to the national debt just to deliver tax cuts to the rich.”
