Why is Kim Reynolds the Least Popular Governor in the Nation?
DES MOINES — 49 out of 50 Governors in the US have a net positive approval rating. Iowa’s own Kim Reynolds is the only one who’s underwater, according to a new survey.
The Iowa Democratic Party put together a list of reasons as to why Kim Reynolds could be ranked dead last in the nation:
-
Under Reynold’s watch, Iowa ranked 49th in economic growth in 2024
-
Iowa ranked 48th in personal income growth in 2024
-
The state will need to take $900 million out of the state’s savings to pay for Reynolds’ budget this year, which prioritizes millionaires and big corporations
-
She gave a 44 percent funding increase to private schools and only a 2 percent increase – which is less than inflation – to public schools. This leaves the majority of Iowa students behind while giving more money to wealthy families who already attend private schools.
-
The Farm Bureau is warning more than 11,400 Iowans could lose their jobs due to Iowa’s ag economy downturn – something Reynolds is failing to address.
-
Mental healthcare in Iowa is so bad, parents are being forced to give up custody so their children can get care.
-
For every three children in Iowa, only 1 childcare slot is available.
-
Reynolds has gone all-in on DOGE, claiming she wants to save the state more money. Meanwhile, she has tied the hands of the state Auditor, whose job is to make sure money is being spent legally and responsibly.
-
Reynolds found and endorsed primary candidates to run against members of her own party who opposed her unpopular school voucher bill.
“Kim Reynolds has spent eight years driving Iowa and our economy into the ground and Iowans are clearly sick of her disastrous policies that prioritize millionaires and big corporations,” said Iowa Democratic Party Spokesperson Paige Godden. “It’s time to replace Reynolds with a new Governor who will put Iowa families first.”
