Iowa Republicans Vote to cut Medicaid, Lower Taxes for Millionaires & Billionaires
DES MOINES – Iowa Democratic Party Chair Rita Hart issued the following statement after Iowa Republicans voted for a budget resolution that will raise costs for Iowans and lower taxes for millionaires and billionaires.
“Iowa Republicans unanimously voted to support a bill that will cut Medicaid – the health care program that helps more than 600,000 low-income children, the disabled and elderly Iowans – so that Republicans can pay for more tax breaks for millionaires and billionaires,” said IDP Chair Rita Hart. “Iowans were promised lower costs, not higher medical bills.”
Earlier today, Iowans in all four congressional districts gathered at Zach Nunn’s, Mariannette Miller-Meeks’, Randy Feenstra’s, and Ashley Hinson’s offices. More than 50 people joined the rally in Des Moines and 100+ joined in Davenport to rally against the proposed budget bill.
