According to Justice Michael Streit, Reynolds flouted the Iowa Constitution when she missed the deadline to appoint Besler. This decision that not only stains her own record of management but could potentially open all of Judge Besler’s future rulings up to challenge, crippling part of Iowa’s Justice System.
This isn’t even the first time Governor Reynolds’ mismanagement has not held up to legal scrutiny, she was sued earlier this year for misusing Iowa tax dollars to cover up her budget mess.
“Complying with the law is a very low bar. It’s astonishing that Governor Reynolds can’t even seem to clear that basic requirement of the job because she’s too busy flying off with the special interests that fill her campaign accounts. Iowans deserve a governor who won’t put our justice system at risk,” said Iowa Democratic Party Chair Troy Price.
