“The day we have been waiting for is finally here: Voting is officially open for the 2018 elections,” said Deidre DeJear, candidate for Secretary of State. “Now is the time for Iowans to have their voices heard. Our democracy only works if we all show up and participate. I encourage every Iowan, regardless of political party, to be a voter this year. Let’s make 2018 the year of the voter!”
Iowa Democrats are committed to making sure that every Iowan has access to the ballot box. That is why Democratic candidates held fifteen early vote rallies and organized voters in all 99 counties to go to their County Auditor’s office and cast the first votes of the 2018 election.
Fred Hubbell and Cindy Axne rallied voters in Des Moines, Senator Rita Hart fired up a crowd in Poweshiek, Representative Abby Finkenauer held a rally in Dubuque, and Congressman Dave Loebsack spent the morning in Iowa City encouraging voters there to vote early.
