Zach Lahn Supports Continuing the Privatized Medicaid Scheme, Dismissed Medicaid Cuts as “Partisan Talking Points”

CEDAR RAPIDS – On the debate stage, Kansas carpetbagger and career political operative Zach Lahn is doubling down on his promise to continue Kim Reynolds’ privatized Medicaid disaster, which has made health care more expensive, denied care to thousands of Iowans, and made it harder for rural families to get the care they need.

Lahn also supports Washington’s cuts to Medicaid and spearheaded a campaign to block Medicaid expansion in Montana, which would have kicked tens of thousands of people off their insurance.

Here’s what you need to know about Lahn’s attacks on health care:

  • 180,000 Iowans now have access to health insurance because Iowa expanded Medicaid, which Lahn called “bad policy” and a “mess.”

  • Lahn said he will not reverse Kim Reynolds’ privatized Medicaid disaster as governor and doesn’t have a plan to address Iowa’s health care crisis.

  • Lahn supports Medicaid cuts in the federal budget law and praised his D.C. party bosses for making the largest cuts to Medicaid in history.

  • Lahn-backed Medicaid cuts threaten health care for 110,000 Iowans, put at least 23 rural hospitals on the brink of closure, and do nothing to stop health care premiums for 117,890 Iowans from skyrocketing.
