DES MOINES – During a bus tour campaign stop, Ashley Hinson begged Iowans to help donate “a little gas money for our bus” as the price of diesel remains above $6/gallon and gas remains about $4/gallon because of her seven votes to continue the war in Iran.
Key context: Hinson cast her seventh vote to continue the war in Iran just weeks ago as it devastated Iowa with “record diesel prices,” “surg[ing]” gas costs, fertilizer prices “near peak levels,” and inflation higher than the national average. She has repeatedly defended the war in Iran and downplayed the impact on Iowans, calling it “out of sight, out of mind” as Iowans struggle to pay their bills.” She has raked in hundreds of thousands of dollars from Big Oil, and now those companies are seeing record profits up to $14 billion from the Iran war.

- Ashley Hinson: “Use that anger about these lies that they’re telling about us on TV because if they’re willing to lie about me, they’re willing to lie about you. So, I want you to channel that into action and getting your friends out to vote. Help give us a little gas money for our bus. Make sure we’re showing up at the polls because there is more to do.”
