DES MOINES – Today marks 1,111 days since the 2018 Farm Bill and, since getting to Congress, Ashley Hinson has yet to successfully deliver a new five-year Farm Bill for Iowa farmers who are struggling because of her seven votes to continue the war in Iran and five votes to keep the tariffs in place.
Hinson has repeatedly defended chaotic tariffs even as Iowa farmers have warned they’re facing “some of their toughest times since the 1980s crisis” as their markets get crushed and input costs skyrocket.
Meanwhile, the Hinson-backed Iran war has sent diesel to record-highs during peak harvest season and fertilizer costs have spiked.
“Ashley Hinson has abandoned Iowa farmers by failing to pass a Farm Bill into law, voting to continue the war in Iran, and defending chaotic tariffs,” said Iowa Democratic Party spokesperson Drew Myers. “After waiting 1,111 days, farmers’ patience for a new Farm Bill has run out. Come November 3rd, they are going to reject Ashley Hinson.”
