Zach Lahn Will Continue Kim Reynolds’ Billion Dollar Budget Deficit
SIOUX CITY – Kansas carpetbagger and career political operative Zach Lahn has “cast himself as the heir to” Kim Reynolds’ failed record, including her nearly $1.4 billion budget deficit that threatens funding for schools, health care, and law enforcement.
Iowa’s economy is ranked 39th in the country, 49th in the country for personal income growth over the last three years, and 45th for economic activity after a decade of one-party rule. Farmers are filing for bankruptcy at the highest rate in the nation, and layoffs in Iowa have hit a one-year high, but Lahn claims Reynolds’ back-to-back budget deficits to fund tax breaks for powerful insiders “really put us on good financial footing.”
Here’s what you need to know about Lahn running to continue Reynolds’ billion dollar budget deficit:
- October 6: “When Governor Branstad came out of retirement and ran for governor again … his leadership, and through the leadership of Kim Reynolds, really put us on good financial footing.”
- June 30: “The economy will rebound. This is cyclical … I think the governor of Iowa did the right thing.”
- January 27: “The state is spending too much money on education.”
