DES MOINES – During last night’s Senate debate, Ashley Hinson dodged three questions in a row about the up to $5 million in insurance stock she still holds as she tries (and fails) to hide the truth from Iowans.

Despite claiming she sold her individual stock and campaigning on a congressional stock trading ban, Hinson’s private insurance stock has increased her net worth by up to 15 times since she was sworn into office and paid out as much as $1 million in dividends in the last year alone.

“Ashley Hinson is a millionaire who has enriched herself in office at the expense of Iowans,” said Iowa Democratic Party spokesperson Drew Myers. “She’s trying to deflect questions about her up to $5 million in insurance stock that has helped her grow her net worth by as much as 15 times because she knows Iowans are tired of corrupt politicians like her who use public office as an investment opportunity. In 20 days, they’re going to vote for change.”
