Zach Lahn’s Top Surrogates: Conspiracy Theorists, Extremists, and Child Predators
DES MOINES – Zach Lahn has scored an endorsement from child predator and extremist James Fishback, who is best known for grooming his minor student and telling Black people “they should be lynched.” Fishback joins a long list of dangerous extremists that have endorsed Lahn, including avowed white supremacists Steve King and Joel Tenney.
Zach Lahn has been endorsed by and campaigned with dangerous extremists:
- White supremacist and disgraced former Congressman Steve King: King has a decades-long record of promoting hateful views and conspiracy theories, which includes questioning why the term “white nationalist” is offensive, promoting the Great Replacement conspiracy theory, and amplifying neo-Nazis on social media. Despite that, Lahn has campaigned with King and praised him as someone who “did the right thing even when it was unpopular” and stayed “true to his principles.”
- Child predator and fellow carpetbagger James Fishback: Fishback is a fellow carpetbagger who barely got a humiliating 10% of the vote when he lost the Florida GOP gubernatorial primary after living in Washington, D.C. for years. He is best known for being accused of grooming minors, telling Black people they “should be lynched,” and “defending Florida’s slaveholding past.” In his endorsement, Fishback praised Lahn and said he is “fighting to … defend our culture, heritage, and birthright.”
- Extremist and sexual harasser Joel Tenney: Tenney has gone viral for promoting white supremacist and antisemitic conspiracy theories and was criminally charged for sexual assault. Despite that, Lahn has campaigned with and was photographed with Tenney.
From Iowa Democratic Party spokesperson Terra Hernandez:
“Zach Lahn’s embrace of unhinged conspiracy theorists, dangerous extremists, and child predators shows that he will use the governor’s office to spread baseless conspiracies and lies — instead of fixing our serious issues with cancer, costs and corruption. Iowans already rejected the company Lahn keeps in Steve King six years ago, and they will reject it again in November.”
