Dallas County Auditor Dramatically Reduces Early Voting Satellite Hours and Locations
DES MOINES – Despite citizen petitions to ensure that Dallas County citizens are able to make their voices heard this year, the Dallas County Auditor’s office has dramatically scaled back early voting in the 2026 general election.
According to the Dallas County Auditor’s website, voters will now only have two days to cast a ballot at one of two early voting satellite locations.
For comparison, during the 2026 Primary Election, Dallas County citizens had five days to cast a ballot at one of two early voting satellite locations. In 2024, Dallas County offered five satellite locations and extended hours at the auditor’s office to cast an early vote.
“While counties across the state are working hard to make voting as accessible as possible for Iowans, Dallas County is moving dramatically in the wrong direction – reducing both hours and locations just from the 2026 primary,” said IDP Chair Rita Hart. “Auditor Todd Halbur and the Dallas County Board of Supervisors should have done better. Now, I encourage all Dallas County citizens to make their plan to vote early in Perry October 27 or Clive October 29.”
