Ahead of First Debate, IDP Launches LahnLies.Com to Expose Zach Lahn’s Pattern of Lying to Iowans
DES MOINES – Today, ahead of the first gubernatorial debate, the Iowa Democratic Party launched LahnLies.com, a new website that exposes how Kansas carpetbagger and career political operative Zach Lahn has spent his entire campaign lying to Iowans.

On the site, Iowans can see how Lahn lied about where he lives, his career working for special interests, and being a farmer. Lahn still lives in Kansas and said he would try to “be in Iowa as much as humanly possible” if elected, making him “exactly the type of out-of-state investor who buys up farm land in Iowa that he has attacked on the campaign trail.” He spent his career as a paid political operative, working for corporate polluters and running a campaign to block Medicaid expansion in Montana.
The website also lays out the truth about how Lahn is running to continue Kim Reynolds’ failed status quo. He has pledged to continue Reynolds’ privatized Medicaid disaster and defended her nearly $1.4 billion budget deficit that threatens funding for schools, health care, and law enforcement. Lahn also “cast himself as the heir” to her failed legacy of high cancer rates, farm bankruptcies, and underfunded public schools.
From Iowa Democratic Party spokesperson Terra Hernandez:
“We’re holding Kansas carpetbagger and career political operative Zach Lahn accountable as he takes the debate stage to lie to Iowans about where he lives, his record of working for special interests, and about being a farmer. Lahn knows his real record is a nonstarter for Iowans — that’s why he’ll lie about anything and everything to get elected.”
